This course is hands on and is comprised of a mixture of lecture and actual training that will cover the following topics:

  1. History of Active Shooter Events
  2. Making a Plan
  3. Evacuation
  4. Barricades
  5. Fighting back
  6. Casualty Care
  7. Interaction with Law Enforcement

Our vision is to empower all citizens with the skills and knowledge to respond when shots are fired. If the police cannot be there in time to help, the next best thing is to prepare our civilian population to help themselves until public safety arrives.

The FBI says that the generally agreed upon definition of an active shooter situation is “an individual actively engaged in killing or attempting to kill people in a confined and populated area.”

“Unlike a defined crime, such as a murder or mass killing, the active aspect inherently implies that both law enforcement personnel and citizens have the potential to affect the outcome of the event based upon their responses,” the FBI said in a 2013 study of active shooter incidents.
